No.16 Storm Remain Undeafeted At Home Against Cedarville

(PAINESVILLE, Ohio)- In the fourth home game of the season, the No. 16 ranked Lake Erie men's soccer team defeated the Cedarville Yellow Jackets 2-1. The Storm came back from a one goal deficit early in the match, to take the lead by a one goal advantage.

The Yellow Jackets wasted no time, with less than a minute forward Mauricio Ochoa Vazquez broke free and scored on a blast past keeper Tom John. Ochoa Vazquez was active throughout the match attempting a game high four shots. 

The Green and White were not to be out done early in the match at the 22 minute, head coach Louie Rolko made the decision to substitute senior, Ameer Saade into the game. The substitution led to the first goal by Jonathon Carr off an assist from Saade.

With two minutes of the first goal by Lake Erie, forward Tom Akinola would break the tie by scoring his third goal of the season on an assist in the box by Javier Borreguero.

Cedarville out shot Lake Erie 14-10, with 8 shots by the Yellow Jackets coming in the first half of the match

The Storm would keep the Yellow Jackets quiet for the remainder of the game, taking the game 2-1 over Cedarville and earning their second victory in conference play. Junior, Tom John would finish the day with a total of nine saves.

Lake Erie will be back in action on Wednesday against Findlay University, as they continue to remain undefeated at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium. The home match is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.
