PAINESVILLE, Ohio-- Wayne State University pitcher Mackenzie Boehler pitched a perfect game against the Lake Erie College softball in game two of a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) double-header in Painesville Wednesday (April 3) to wrap-up a two game sweep of the Storm as the Warriors downed the Storm 9-1 and 9-0.
In game one, Wayne State (12-12) jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the second and did not look back, adding one run in the fourth and two in the six. The Storm (2-16, 0-8) got on the board in the bottom of the sixth, when Maddi Klemp (Akron, Ohio/Coventry) scored off a Jeniffer Gratz (Richwood, Ohio/North Union) double but it was not enough for Lake Erie. Morgan Studd (Wakerman, Ohio/Western Reserve) also had a hit for the Storm.
Warrior's pitcher Briana Lee gave up two hits in five innings while striking out six.
In game two, Wayne State's Mackenzie Boehler pitched a perfect game as the Warriors put together a seven run fourth inning en route to the win. Boehler struck out seven batters for her eighth win of the season.
The Storm is back in action Friday (April 5) when they play host to GLIAC foe Saginaw Valley State University in a double-header in Painesville.
