CLERMONT, Fla. – The Lake Erie College softball team spilt their double header against Post and Georgian Court today (March 2nd). The Storm has an overall record of 2-2 on the season.
The Storm fell in game one against Post, 12-6. The offense was led by Allyson Hajnosz (Lordstown, Ohio / Lordstown) who hit a homerun in the top of the first; she has two homeruns this season. The Storm battled the entire game and forced all seven innings, but lost 12-6.
In the second game the Storm loaded the bases in the top of the first inning, and took a 6-0 lead. Hajnosz, Elizabeth Karako (Fairport Harbor, Ohio / Lake Catholic),Kaylie Lewis (Sebring, Ohio / West Branch), and Amber Dowen (New Lyne, Ohio / Pymatuning Valley) each had an RBI in the inning. Lake Erie added to their lead in the top of the third when Lindsey Valvoda (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) singled, and drove in Hannah Shevenell (Madera, Calif. / Liberty. Savannah Karako (Fairport Harbor, Ohio / Lake Catholic) drove home Marissa Rizzo (Northfield Center, Ohio / Nordonia) on a single threw the left side, to make the score 9-0. Dowen singled up the middle to drive home Lewis, Valvoda hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Shevenell. Lake Erie finished the fourth with an 11-0 advantage. The Storm won the game in five innings, 11-2.
Dawn Ondercin threw a complete game; she gave up one earned run on five hits. Ondercin is now 1-1 on the season.
The Storm will have an off day tomorrow, but will be back in action Wednesday (March 4th) when they take on USciences and Notre Dame, as the Storm continues their action in Florida.
