ERIE, Pa. – The Lake Erie College softball team was in action today as they split their double header with Gannon.  The Storm dropped the first game, 1-0 before bouncing back to win, 4-3 in the second game.

The first game was a pitcher's duel as neither team was able to muster any runs until the bottom of the seventh inning.  The Golden Knights hit a walk off homerun to win game one.  On the mound for the Storm was Allyson Deemer (Poland, Ohio / Poland Seminary) as she threw a complete game.  She allowed only three hits, had five strikeouts, and never conceding more than one hit in an inning.

Gannon jumped out to the lead in game two with a run in the third.  The Storm batted back and took the lead with a four run fourth.  The inning started when Kaitlyn Peacock (Hebron, Ohio / Lakewood) doubled to left field and was then driven in by a Kristin Peacock (Hebron, Ohio / Lakewood) single.  The next batter up Marissa Rizzo (Northfield Center, Ohio / Nordonia) had a single that plated Kr. Peacock.  Savannah Karako (Fairport Harbor, Ohio / Lake Catholic) kept the inning going with a walk and Elizabeth Karako (Fairport Harbor, Ohio / Lake Catholic) singled home Rizzo.  Allyson Hajnosz (Lordstown, Ohio / Lordstown) walked in S. Karako to give the Storm a 4-1 lead over the Golden Knights.  Gannon cut into the Storm lead with a pair of runs in the fifth, to make the score 4-3.  The Storm held on to win the game, 4-3.  Hannah Shevenell (Madera, Calif. / Liberty) started game two and went five strong innings for the Storm and got the win. Darrian Yanek (Youngstown, Ohio / South Range) pitched in relief for the Storm and received the save.

Lake Erie will return to the field Saturday (April 1) when they travel to take on the University of Findlay.
