(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) - Lake Erie dropped both games of a doubleheader to visiting Trevecca Nazarene by scores of 6-3 and 7-2 on Saturday afternoon at Diamond 9. The results dropped the Storm's record to 8-14 overall and 4-6 in the G-MAC. The Trojans improved to 15-16 and 8-4 in the game categories.
Kaitlyn Peacock opened up the scoring in the opener to give the Green and White a quick 1-0 lead with a single up the middle to score Payton Brownlee. The Storm bats struggled from there, however, as the Trojans scored the next five runs to take control of the game.
Coach Dyer's crew did make a valiant rally attempt in the bottom of the fifth as Chloe Allen doubled to left center to bring in Kristin Peacock and Parker Viele. It was the closest they could get as Trevecca added an insurance run in the next inning.
Viele took the loss to drop to 4-3 on the season. She struck out four in the game.
Game two saw the Trojans jump out to a 3-0 lead before the Storm scored their only two runs in the fourth. Morgan Smith was responsible for both runners coming in as Kaitlyn Peacock and Brownlee scored on the play.
Hayley Dix took the decision in the circle with the complete game to fall to 1-3 on the campaign.
The Storm will be back in action tomorrow as they wrap up the weekend with Kentucky Wesleyan. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. at Diamond 9.
