PAINESVILLE, OHIO - For the first time in its brief history, the Lake Erie College track and field program has a provisional national qualifier. Four of them to be exact, as the men's 4x400-relay team reached the NCAA Division II provisional mark late Saturday (Feb. 20) at the Kent State University Tune-Up meet.
The quartet of freshmen Chris Burrows (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood-Madison), Donta Covington (Akron, Ohio/North), Quinton Harley (Rochester, N.Y./Edison Tech) and Ethan Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) placed third overall in the event with a school-record time of 3:17.58.
Their time when converted for track size is 3:17.98, ahead of the NCAA provisional qualification time of 3:18.5.
The group's previous best time was 3:18.92 last weekend at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet.
