PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- Junior distance runner Allison Wright (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) and freshman thrower Nick Green (Wapakoneta, Ohio/Wapakoneta) each set school records Friday night (Feb. 4) for the Lake Erie College track and field teams at the University of Findlay open.
Wright ran the women's 3,000-meter race in 11:29.47, crushing the previous school mark of 12:11 set three years ago. She placed 13th overall in the event.
Also on the women's side, sophomore sprinters Andrea Boyd (Bedford, Ohio/Bedford) and Colleen Bednar (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) ran sub 8-second 60-meter dashes. Boyd ran a 7.88 in the preliminaries and the finals. Bednar clocked a time of 7.95 in the finals. The pair finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the event.
Green tossed the shot put, 48' 4", two inches past the school record. That performance was good enough for 19th place in a field of 50 throwers.
Just a partial team competed Friday night. The full Storm squads are expected to compete on Saturday (Feb. 5) at the Division II Team Challenge, also at Findlay.
