PAINESVILLE, OHIO – The Lake Erie College men's track and field team will send four student-athletes to the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships March 11-12. This marks Lake Erie's first appearance in the national indoor meet. The participants for the event, hosted by Adams State College, were announced Tuesday (Mar. 1).
While the rest of the team is set to open the outdoor season that same weekend in Myrtle Beach, S.C., sophomores Chris Burrows (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood Madison), Eric Klucar (Medina, Ohio/Highland) and Isaac Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) as well as freshman Jamil Dudley (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon) will represent the Storm in the final – and most important – indoor meet of the season in Albuquerque, N.M.
Burrows, an outdoor All-American as a freshman in 2010, qualified in two events, the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes. He is seeded 10th in the 200m, an event which he won at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) meet last weekend, and 11th in the 400.
Dudley is the top seed in the high jump. He reached the automatic qualification standard in his intercollegiate debut in December and won the event at the GLIAC Championships, earning GLIAC Freshman Field Athlete of the year honors. His best performance came at the GaREAT Midweek Collegiate Open in late February when he cleared an Division II season-best 7' 2 ¼".
Klucar will be seeded 11th in the pole vault. His best performance of the season came at the LEC/GaREAT Collegiate Open Jan. 29 when he cleared 16 feet (4.88 meters).
Also seeded 11th, Snyder will participate in the heptathlon after finishing second in the multi-event at the GLIAC Championships last week with an impressive 4,904 points. He improved his points total in each of his last three meets.
Additionally, Snyder will write a blog for www.LakeErieStorm.com during the National Championships.
