School Records Clipped As Storm Track Heads South

PAINESVILLE, OHIO - The Lake Erie College track and field teams broke nine school records and set 20 personal-bests as a limited squad participated in the UNC Invitational at Chapel Hill, NC on Saturday and a full squad competed at the High Point VertKlasse Meet on Sunday in High Point, N.C.

Freshman high jumper Jamil Dudley (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon) won the men's high jump with meet record jump of 7'-3 ¼", improving on his automatic mark and setting the top mark in NCAA Division II this season.  (Video of Dudley's jump is below.)

Other event winners against the NCAA Division I completion were sophomore Andrea Boyd (Bedford, Ohio/Bedford) in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.71, sophomore Chris Burrows (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood-Madison) in the 200-meter dash in 21.38, sophomore Quinton Harley (Rochester, N.Y/Edison Tech) in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best 52.41 and the men's and women's 4x400 meter relay teams in a meet record 3:18.23 and 4:00.65, respectively. Harley's time is a NCAA Division II Provisional Qualifier.

In addition to Dudley, the Storm men set two other school records with sophomore Cody Lancaster (Eastlake, Ohio/North) running the one mile in 4:22.35 and freshman Isaac Reid (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg) breaking the school record by over three feet in the triple jump with a leap of 43-8 feet.

The women's team set six school records over the two days.  On Sunday, junior Allison Wright (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) finished third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:20.02, sophomore Ember Ryan (Mechanicsburg, Ohio/Fairbanks) broke the 400 meter hurdle record by over three seconds in 1:12.66, freshman Melissa Delane (LaPlata, Md./LaPlata) set a new triple jump record with a leap of 35' 9-1/4" and sophomore Tiffany Turner (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) set a new javelin mark with a throw of 86'-10."

On Saturday at UNC, two other records fell as the women's 4x100 meter team set a new top mark with 47.20 seconds and Boyd ran the 100-meter hurdles in 14.24.  Both times meet the NCAA Provisional Qualifying standards.
