Storm Runners Compete With Best Of The Best At Penn Relays

PAINESVIILE, OHIO – Lake Erie College track and field sent a small contingent of athletes to one of the premier competitions in the country, the Penn Relays, hosted at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa. 

The weekend is hosts to top competitions at all levels from juniors through seniors.  The collegiate level is made up of mostly NCAA Division I schools.

The Storm's best showing came in the 400 meter hurdles with two top 15 finishes and three in the top 24 of the 60-man field.  Sophomores Quinton Harley (Rochester, N.Y/Edison Tech) and Ethan Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) each improved upon NCAA Provisional Qualifying times with ninth and 13th place finishes of 52.14 and 52.34, respectively. Classmate Isaac Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) ran 53.17 seconds in the event to finish 24th.

Lake Erie also had two relay teams compete as the men's 4x100 relay team of Hartley, sophomore Cameron Whitner (Westerville, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty), junior Joe Lockard (Columbus, Ohio/Circleville) and sophomore Chris Burrows (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood-Madison) finished 25th of 83 teams in 41.74 seconds. The 4x400 team of Burrows, Hartley, and the Snyders finished 26th of 82 schools in 3:15.71. 

The rest of the Storm track and field squad is in action this weekend at the Ashland Alumni Open.
