Go West: Storm Sending Five to NCAA Championships in California

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Highlighted by a return appearance from a pair of All-Americans, the 17th-ranked Lake Erie College men's track and field team will send five student-athletes to the 2011 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Turlock, Calif. next weekend, May 26-28.

Sophomores Chris Burrows (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood Madison) and Ethan Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) earned All-American honors at the 2010 Championships in Charlotte, N.C., and will be back to challenge again this year.

Burrows will compete individually in the 100- and 200-meter dashes after posting the nation's fifth and sixth fastest times, respectively. He finished eighth in the 200 in 2010, but was third in the event at the 2011 Indoor National Championships in March.

Snyder was seventh in the 400-meter hurdles last year and is seeded 13th heading into the event this year.  He'll be joined in that event by classmate Quinton Harley (Rochester, N.Y./Edison Tech), who posted the fifth fastest time during the season at 51.77 seconds.

The fourth individual competitor for the Storm set to head west is freshman Jamil Dudley (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon) in the high jump.  Dudley was third during the indoor championships and had the nation's best outdoor mark during the season at 2.22 meters (7' 3 ¼").

Burrows, Snyder, and Harley will be joined by fellow sophomore and Indoor All-American heptathlete Isaac Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) in the men's 4x400-meter relay. The Storm relay squad qualified 10th at 3:11.25.

As a team, Lake Erie finished 16th at the indoor championships, with Burrows, Isaac Snyder and Dudley combining for 16 points.  All three earned All-American honors.  At the 2010 outdoor national meet, Burrows and Ethan Snyder scored three points to tie for 42nd nationally in the team standings.
