Storm With Strong Early Showing at KSU

KENT, OHIO – The Lake Erie College track and field teams kicked off their weekend Friday (Dec. 9) during the first day of the annual Golden Flash Gala at Kent State University. 

A limited number of athletes participated in day one, but the Storm had a couple of strong early performances.  Junior All-American Isaac Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) posted a first-day total of 2,696 points in four heptathlon events.  He was fourth in the 60-yard dash and tied for fifth in the high jump to post the best first-day total of his career.

Freshman Joseph Postwaite (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chilli) tied for sixth place in the long jump, hitting 21' 6".   Additionally, junior Craig Gerber (Fremont, Ohio/Clyde) posted the second fastest time in the 5000-meters in school history, finishing 19th in the event with a time of 15:40.74.

On the women's side, sophomore Taylor Williams (Akron, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) placed 18th in the weight throw with a toss of 44' 8 ¼".

The full squad will get into action on Saturday morning, Dec. 10, at the KSU Fieldhouse for Day 2 of the Gala.
