Boyd and Postwaite Double Winners at B-W Mid-February Meet

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – The Lake Erie College track and field teams claimed a total of seven first-place finishes, including two each by junior Andrea Boyd (Bedford, Ohio/Bedford) and freshman Joe Postwaite (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili), and had 11 other top-three finishes at the unscored Mid-February Meet at Baldwin-Wallace College on Friday night (Feb. 10).

On the women's side, Boyd won both the 55-meter dash and 55-meter hurdles.  She sprinted across the finish line in 7.36 seconds of the dash and 8.27 in the finals of the hurdles.  She ran 7.28 and 8.24, respectively, in the preliminary rounds of the events. 

Also for the women, classmate Colleen Bednar (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) won the long jump, leaping 17' 6 ¾".  Fellow junior Samantha Smith (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) set a school record for the fourth consecutive week, this time in the 1,000-meter run.  She finished second in a time of 3:10.07. 

Freshman jumper Destiny Prusky (Newton Falls, Ohio/Newton Falls) and senior Alex Ardo (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) each placed third in their events.  Prusky cleared 5' 2 ¼" in the high jump, while Ardo reached 34' 10 ½" in the triple jump.  Sophomore Taylor Williams (Akron, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) was third in the weight throw with a toss of 46'.  Additionally, the 4x400-meter relay team finished second (4:15.72) and the 4x200-meter team was third (1:52.86).

On the men's side, Postwaite continued to dominate the triple jump, again breaking his own school mark with a leap of 48' 3 ½", moving him into sole possession of eighth place on the current NCAA Division II national performance list.  He also won the high jump by clearing 6' 6".

Junior All-American Isaac Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) won the long jump with a leap of 20' 7" and took third in the 55-meter dash (6.72 seconds).  He also ran on the 4x400-meter relay team that took second with a time of 3:32.57.

Junior Andre Robinson (Cleveland, Ohio/Martin Luther King) was the other individual winner, taking the 500-meter run in 1:07.83.  He also ran with Snyder on the 4x400 team.

Junior pole vaulter Eric Klucar (Medina, Ohio/Highland) finished second in his event, clearing the bar at 14' 5 ¼".  Also finishing second was junior Greg Gerber (Fremont, Ohio/Clyde) in the 1,000-meters (2:40.41) and the men's 4x200-meter relay team (1:35.84).

The Storm is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Kent State University Tune-Up in their final preparation for the 2012 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships the following weekend.
