HIGH POINT,  N.C. – The throwers had a big weekend for the Lake Erie College track and field teams at the annual High Point University VertKlasse Meeting Friday and Saturday (March 24-25) in High Point. N.C., setting three school records and several personal bests.

Sophomore Taylor Williams (Akron, Ohio/Archbishop Hoban) set two records for the women and classmate Nick Green (Wapakoneta, Ohio/Wapakoneta) set a new mark for the men.  He also came close in another.

Williams placed fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 140' 7" and then took 10th in the shot put at 35' ¾", both easily eclipsing the previous Lake Erie best.

Green took second in the men's shot, reaching 47' 5 ¼", and then was fourth in the hammer at 152' 1", the second best throw in school history.

Both Williams (hammer) and Green (shot) set records for the second week in a row.

Overall, the Storm posted 22 top-10 finishes at the meet, 14 by the men and eight for the women.  Senior Joe Lockard (Columbus, Ohio/Circleville) finished second in his division of the 200-meters (22.72 seconds) and ran lead on the men's 4x100-meter relay team that was third and the 4x400-meter team that placed sixth.  Fifth-year senior Andre Robinson (Cleveland, Ohio/Martin Luther King, Jr./Notre Dame) ran a strong 48.39 seconds in the 400-meters to take seventh.

Off the track, freshman Joe Postwaite (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) placed second in the triple jump (47' 1 ½") and fifth in the high jump (6' 4 ¾") while junior Eric Klucar (Medina, Ohio/Highland) finished third in the pole vault by clearing 15'.

On the women's side, freshman Destiny Prusky (Newton Falls, Ohio/Newton Falls) had a third-place finish in the high jump at 5' 3 ¾".  The Storm also had three finish in the top-10 of their division in the 400-meter dash, led by sophomore Shanita Fluker (Flint, Mich./Southwest) who was just off the school record with a time of 1:00.89.

The teams are off until April 7, when they will travel to Liberty University for the Liberty Collegiate Invitational.
