PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- Sophomore All-American Jamil Dudley (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Outdoor Track & Field "Field Athlete of the Week" by the league office on Tuesday (April 17), following his vstrong performance this past weekend.
Dudley won the high jump at the University of Tennessee Sea Ray Relays on Saturday (April 14), clearing 7' 3 1/4" (2.22 meters), over 4 1/2" higher than the runner-up, Cory Vales from the University of Findlay. It was his second best jump this season and third time in his career he has cleared 2.22 meters.
Dudley, the 2011 US Junior National Champion and a three-time All-American, has already automatically qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships and has reached B Standards for the 2012 Olympic Trials.
His jump of 7' 4 1/2" at the Wake Forest University Open is the best jump in Division II this spring and the second best jump at any level of college competition.
Findlay's Shoayb Bascal was named the GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week.
