PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- Freshmen Joe Postwaite (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) and Destiny Prusky (Newton Falls, Ohio/Newton Falls) each set a school record and furthered NCAA Division II provisional qualifying jumps Friday (May 11) for the Lake Erie College Track and Field Teams.
Competing at the Second-to-Last Chance Meet at Grand Valley State University, Postwaite leapt past 49' in the triple jump, finishing second in the event at 49' 1" (14.96 meters). That jump is currently 18th nationally and bettered his previous benchmark of 48' 11 1/2" set earlier this season at Liberty University.
Meanwhile in Meadville, Pa. at the Allegheny College Gator Invitational, Prusky took first place in the high jump by clearing the bar at 5' 6". That mark was a quarter-inch better than her previous record of 5' 5 3/4" set at the All-Ohio Championships.
The Storm had five other top 10 finishes at Allegheny. Junior Garrett Ondrus (Oregon, Ohio/Clay) placed third in the 110-meter hurdles and classmate Eric Klucar (Medina, Ohio/Highland) took fourth in the pole vault (15' 5"). Fifth-year senior Andre Robinson (Cleveland, Ohio/Martin Luther King, Jr./Notre Dame) and freshman David Bojalad (Saint Mary's, Pa./Elk County Christian) took seventh in the 400-meters (49.67) and the javelin throw (174' 8"), respectively, and senior Joe Lockard (Columbus, Ohio/Circleville) was 10th in the 200-meters (22.36).
