Dudley To Be Inducted on Lake County Captains Wall of Fame Aug. 23

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Lake Erie College two-sport standout Jamil Dudley (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon), the 2012 NCAA Division II Outdoor High Jump national champion, will be recognized for his title-winning performance when he is enshrined on the Classic Auto Group Lake County Captains "Wall of Champions" on Thursday, Aug. 23, at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio.

Dudley, a four-time All-American and two-time Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) champion, became the first Lake Erie student-athlete to win an individual national championship.  His winning jump at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Pueblo, Colo. of 7' 4 ½" was the ninth-best height in the history of Division II.

Dudley, who also excels on the basketball court for Lake Erie, will also have the opportunity to throw out the first pitch prior to the Captains game that evening against the South Bend Silver Hawks.

The program begins at 6 p.m., with the game to follow at 7.

Currently celebrating their 10th anniversary season, the Captains are the Class-A Midwest League affiliate of the Cleveland Indians.  The Classic Auto Group Wall of Champions recognizes young athletes  and teams around Northeast Ohio that have accomplished an incredible feat. This ranges from a local league championship all the way up to a National Title. Previous honorees include the 2011 St. Ignatius Midwest Rowing Champions; Katie Spotz, the youngest person to ever row across the world; tennis player Kyle McPhillips of Andrews Osborne, who was ranked as the number 1 amateur player in the country; Selena Pasadyn of Brunswick, the 2011 National High School Wendy's Heisman Winner, and the 2011 state football champion Kirtland High School Hornets.
