Held Makes Big Move to Open Final Week of Qualification

HILLSDALE, MICH.  -- The Lake Erie College track and field teams kicked off their final week of competition - and final chances at qualificiation for the NCAA Championships - Wednesday and Thursday (May 8-9) with a select group of student-athletes competing in a pair of meets hosted by Hillsdale College.

At Thursday's Charger Classic, freshman Kady Held (Massillon, Ohio/Tuslaw) moved up to 17th nationally in the discus with a school-record throw of 151' 4" (46.13 m), an improvement of nearly 11 feet from the day before at the Hillsdale Classic and raising her 17 spots in the national standings from 34th.

Redshirt junior All-American Ethan Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Buckeye) essentially solidifed his spot at the national meet by running a season-best 51.88 seconds in the men's 400-meter hurdles. It was the second straight meet he posted a season-best time and his best time since the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships (51.67).

Those Storm athletes either in or in the hunt for a bid to the national meet will run at the Cardinal Twilight Meet hosted by the University of Louisvlle Friday, May 10.
