LOUISVILLE, KY. – Tuning up to defend his national title, junior All-American Jamil Dudley (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon) had a season-best in the high jump and fellow junior A-A Ethan Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) won the men's 400-meter hurdles to highlight the performance of a select group of Lake Erie College track and field athletes at the Cardinal Twilight meet Friday (May 10) at the University of Louisville.
Dudley cleared the bar at 7' 3 ¼" (2.22 meters), setting a Cardinal Twilight and Cardinal Park Track Stadium record. It is 1/4" better than his previous best jump of the season, set just a week ago at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships and is the second best in DII to date this season. Only one other competitor in the field was within three inches of Dudley.
Snyder dominated the 400-hurdles as his winning time of 52.05 seconds was over a second faster than the runner up, Daniel Trevor of Eastern Illinois University.
Sophomore All-American Joe Postwaite (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) took second place in the triple jump, leaping 50' 6 ¾" (15.41 m)
Other solid performances for the Storm included freshman Keith Hemphill (Warrensville Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Central Catholic), who placed sixth in the 400-meter dash (48.62 seconds), freshman Shavon Thompson (St. Andrew, Jamaica/Ardenne), who ran sixth in the 200-meters (22.26) and 10th in the 100 (11.05 seconds) and redshirt freshman Sean Stone (Newton Falls, Ohio/Southeast) with a 10th-place in the hammer throw (180' 2").
For the LEC women, sophomore Destiny Prusky (Newton Falls, Ohio/Newton Falls) placed seventh in the high jump (5' 4 ½") while classmate Ariana Jorgensen (Kleinburg, Ont./Emily Carr Secondary) was 11th in the 100-meter hurdles at 14.32 seconds.
