LEC tabbed as No. 60 in national all-sports ranking

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – Lake Erie is currently ranked No. 60 in the Director's Cup standings, a broad-based ranking of athletics success across the board in multiple sports published by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.

The Storm picked up a slew of rankings points in the recent national championship events in men's swimming & diving, indoor track & field and wrestling.  A March 20 ranking of nearly 300 Division II programs has LEC with 142.5 points, a total that ranks 60th in the nation.

"This Director's Cup ranking is another indication of where LEC Athletics is and where it's going," said Director of Athletics Reid Guarnieri. "Our wonderful performances in some of the winter championships were such a great accomplishment for those student-athletes and coaches and for our institution at large."

Chief among those winter performances were those of Men's Track & Field which placed ninth at the NCAA-II In door National Championships. Lake Erie had a national champion (Jamil Dudley, high jump) and a national runner-up (Joe Postwaite, triple jump) at that title meet.

Bespeaking the national prominence of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, no less than 10 GLIAC teams were ranked in the top-100 in the March 20 Director's Cup standings.

NACDA publishes the standings several times a year. The No. 60 mark is the highest achieved by Lake Erie in its history in either Division III or Division II competition.
