UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich.—The Lake Erie College track and field team found success on day one of the 2015 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Indoor Championships Saturday (Feb. 28), hosted by Saginaw Valley State University.
Ariana Jorgensen (Kleinburg, Ont./Emily Carr Secondary) qualified for the finals of the 60 meter hurdles with a season-best time of 8.79 seconds. The finals take place Saturday (March 1) afternoon.
Nadia Lee (Tucker, Ga./Tucker) finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.42 meters (17'9.5"), earning three points for the Storm. Danielle Corbin (Atlanta, Ga.) finished 12th in the event with a jump of 5.21 meters (17'1.25")
Corbin also qualified for the finals of the 60 meter dash with a season-best time of 7.75 seconds to reach Saturday's finals.
Kaitlyn Menges (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia) had the top finish for the Storm women in the weight with a season-high toss of 15.18 meters (49'9.75"), placing her in 22nd.
The Storm women currently sit in 12th-place after day one.
Jordan Sensabaugh had the top finish for the Storm men in the 400 meter dash, placing 16th with a season-best time of 49.76 seconds. Andre Husain Jr. (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Holy Name) had the best finish for the Storm in the 60 meter dash, taking 12th 7.06 seconds. Husain also had the best finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.52 seconds, placing 14th.
Kurtis Taylor (Holland, Ohio/Springfield) has completed four events in the heptahalon. His best finsih was third in the shot put with a toss of 12.98 meters (42'7"). The final three events take place Sunday morning.
