CANTON, Ohio— The Lake Erie College track and field team put up solid finishes at the Walsh Invitational Saturday (April 18).
Andrew Kemer (Medina, Ohio/Medina) placed sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.23. Shavon Thompson (St. Andrew, Jamaica/Ardenne) was right behind Kemer, with a time of 11.29. Kemer also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.31.
Kurtis Taylor (Holland, Ohio/Springfield) finished fourth in the javelin with a toss of 49.03 meters. Sean Stone (Newton Falls, Ohio/Southeast) placed sixth in the hammer throw with a toss of 56.01 meters. Douglas Moorer (Copley, Ohio/Copley) took second in the discus with a toss of 54.49 meters.
Joe Postwaite (Rochester, N.Y./Rochester) placed second in the high jump, clearing 2.00 meters. Matthew Mrosko (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) finished fourth in the event, clearing 1.95 meters. Alex Jolly took second in the long jump with a distance of 6.66 meters. Christopher Vogel (Kirchberg, Germany/Sportgymnasium Chemnitz) finished just behind Jolly with a jump of 6.59 meters.
Postwaite was victorious in triple jump with a distance of 15.18 meters. Vogel took third in the event with a jump of 13.70 meters.
Ashley Pryce (Stow, Ohio/Stow Munroe Falls) finished seventh in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.31. Sara Moore (Amherst, Ohio/Amherst) finished just behind Pryce with a time of 1:08.61. Danielle Corbin (Atlanta, Ga.) had a seventh place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.25.
Corbin also finished second in the long jump with a distance of 5.55 meters. Nadia Lee (Tucker, Ga./Tucker) took fourth in the event with a jump of 5.34 meters. Lee won the triple jump with a lea of 11.85 meters.
Kaitlyn Menges (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia) placed third in the shot put with a throw of 13.22 meters. Hannah Brehm-Gutting took sixth in the discus with a toss of 39.29 meters while Menges finished seventh with a throw of 38.26 meters.
Destiny Prusky (Newton Falls, Ohio/Newton Falls) finished second in the high jump, clearing 1.63 meters. Marie Hall (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) finished sixth in the event, clearing 1.53 meters.
The Storm is back in action April 25 at the Ashland Alumni Open.
