Storm Excels at First Day of GLIAC Championships

HILLSDALE, Mich.—The Lake Erie College track and field team found success on day of the 2105 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships Thursday (April 30) at Hillsdale College. 

Ariana Jorgensen (Kleinburg, Ont./Emily Carr Secondary) will race in the finals of the 100 meter hurdles tomorrow after finishing seventh in the prelims with a time of 14.37 seconds. 

The women's 4x100 meter squad qualified for tomorrow's finals with a time of 48.78 seconds, good for sixth. 

Shavon Thompson (St. Andrew, Jamaica/Ardenne) will race in the 100 meter dash finals tomorrow after qualifying in fifth with a personal best time of 10.76 seconds. Thompson also qualified for the 200 meter dash finals with a time of 22.56 seconds. 

Joe Postwaite (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) finished second in the high jump, clearing a season-best height of 2.14 meters (7'0.25").

Danielle Corbin (Atlanta, Ga.) finished eighth in the long jump with a leap of 5.57 meters (18'3.25"). 

Kurtis Taylor (Holland, Ohio/Springfield) finished eighth in the javelin toss with a throw of 48.78 meters (160'). 

The Storm concludes competition at the GLIAC Championships Friday.
