PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College track and field team will be in action Friday (February 5th) and Saturday (February 6th) as they compete in the D-II Team Challenge at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio. Head Coach Grant Lofdahl said "We're optimistic about both days of the Team Challenge. On Friday we only have six events going (the 5000 meters, weight throw, and distance medley), and we're looking to challenge school records in all of them".
Coach Lofdahl said "The best thing about this meet is that it is team-centered. I believe in order to make track and field as popular as it once was in the U.S., most meets should feature team scoring. It helps the crowd get more involved and helps fans understand which teams performed the best overall". Coach Lofdahl added "The SPIRE Indoor Team Challenge will showcase the depth and balance that we're building into our squad and it's great that it will be held in front of our home crowd."
Lake Erie will return to the track Friday (February 12th) when they compete in the Big Meet at Grand Valley St. University.
