PAINESVILLE, Ohio—The Lake Erie College track and field team split up Saturday (March 26) to compete at the Raleigh Relays and the Cedarville Yellowjacket Open.
The Storm wrapped up the second day of the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State University, featuring some of the top Divison-I talent in the country.
Nadia Lee (Tucker, Ga./Tucker) finished 18th in the triple jump with a distance of 11.47 meters. Her finish was second among D-II participants.
Kaitlyn Menges (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia) finished 30th in the hammer throw with a toss 44.71 meters, one of the top D-II finishes.
Christopher Vogel (Kirchberg, Germany/Sportgymnasium Chemnitz) finished 20th in the triple jump with a distance of 13.29 meters.
Hailey Vanhoy (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) set a school record in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:08.56 to finish 15th.
Alex Jolly (Staten Island, N.Y./Wagner) finished third in the long jump with a distance of 6.31 meters.
Kurtis Taylor (Holland, Ohio/Springfield) won the javelin toss with a personal best toss of 51.92 meters. He also finished third in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.22.
The Storm placed two runners in the top eight of the 5000 meter run. DJ Graham (Gomer, Ohio/Columbus Grove) finished in second with a time of 15:23.66 while Jordan Pritchard (Painesville, Ohio/Lake Catholic) placed fourth with a time of 15:34.69. George Lesnak (Mantua, Ohio/Crestwood) finished fifth in the 10000 meter run with a time of 33:48.03.
The Storm is back in action April 9 at the John Homon Invite hosted by Mount Union.
