FINDLAY, Ohio- The Lake Erie College indoor track and field team returned to action following a month off on Friday (Jan. 13) at the Northwest Ohio Invitational, hosted by the University of Findlay.
On the women's side, Simone Green (Akron, Ohio / Buchtel) had a good showing in the sprint events. In the 60 meter dash, Green finished fourth overall with a 7.93 second run. Green then won the 200 meter dash with a 26.12 time. Johanna Moeller (Bochum, Germany / Schiller-Schule Gymnasium Furjungen Und Madchen) earned a fourth place finish in the 60 meter hurdles event, finishing the finals with a time of 9.521 seconds. The Storm had two women finish in the top six of the long jump. Danielle Corbin (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Walnut Grove (Ga.)) finished third and Nadia Lee (Tucker, Ga. / Tucker) finished sixth with jumps of 5.11 and 5.06 meters, respectively. Lee also finished second in the triple jump with a 10.94 meter jump.
For the men, the distance unit shined again at Findlay. Jordan Pritchard (Painesville, Ohio / Lake Catholic) won the 800 meter dash with a time of 1:56.71, nearly three seconds in front of the pack. Austin Jones (Botkins, Ohio / Botkins) was not far behind in fourth place, sx seconds back. Vince Horning (Stow, Ohio / Stow) led the charge in the mile as he finished second with a mile split of 4:26.44. DJ Graham (Gomer, Ohio / Columbus Grove) broke his own school record in the 3,000 meter run as he finished second with a 8:42.87 time.
The Storm will return to action next weekend at the Youngstown State Invitational on Jan. 20th.
