Storm Finishes Up at Grand Valley's Big Meet

ALLENDALE, Mich.- The Lake Erie College indoor track and field team competed in the second day of the Big Meet at Grand Valley State University on Saturday (Feb. 11).

Nadia Lee (Tucker, Ga. / Tucker) took first in the women's triple jump as she set a provisional mark with a jump of  38 feet, five inches (11.71 meters). Danielle Corbin (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Walnut Grove (Ga.) ) took seventh in the women's 60 meter dash. Corbin posted the eighth best time in the prelims before running a 7.94 to finish seventh in the finals. Hailey Nielsen (Jonesville, Mich. / Jonesville) finished tenth in the high jump for the women today as she led with a jump of 4 feet, 11 ¾ inches (1.52 meters). Nielsen also competed in the long jump and posted a 20th place finish. Nielsen's best jump was 16 feet, 5 ¼ inches (5.01 meters).

"We didn't quite have the great results of yesterday, but there were bright spots," said Storm head coach Grant Lofdahl. "Danielle Corbin ran two solid 60-meter heats, overall an excellent weekend for her.  Nadia Lee had yet another good, consistent performance in triple jump. The effort was there today, we just need to be a little better with the execution in some areas."

On the men's side, the distance medley team of DJ Graham (Gomer, Ohio / Columbus Grove), Joseph Elson (Mount Gilead, Ohio / Mount Gilead), Jordan Pritchard (Painesville, Ohio / Lake Catholic), and Vincent Horning (Stow, Ohio / Stow) broke a school record with a time of 10:07.96, breaking the record by nearly two seconds. The team finished ninth in the event.

Lofdahl added, "The distance medley group set a school record and just missed the provisional standard, with great legs on the 1200 from DJ Graham and the 800 from Jordan Pritchard."

As a team, the women finished 13th of 29 teams and the men were 21 out of 40 teams.

"Next week will be a sharpening meet, and then it's on to the GLIAC championships."

The Storm will take part in the Meet for Everyone next Friday (Feb. 17) at the University of Findlay, the site of the GLIAC Championships.
