NEW ORLEANS – The Lake Erie College Cross Country team has been named a Division II All-Academic team. Both the men's and women's cross country teams have been tabbed with the honor.
Head Coach Grant Lofdahl said "One of our big goals for the program back in August was to be an All-Academic team on both sides, and I'm very proud of our runners' effort in the classroom. This is the second year in a row that the women have achieved this honor, but the first time ever for the men's team".
In addition to both teams being awarded All-Academic honors two members of the men's team received the individual All-Academic honor. The individual All-Academic honor was awarded to those athletes who have compiled a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25 and finished among the top 30 percent of eligible runners at his or her regional championships and/or the top half of the field at the NCAA Championships.
Coach Lofdahl added "DJ received All-Academic Individual status for the third time, and Jordan became our second male cross country athlete ever to to earn this honor. Ultimately, these things are just as important as school records, all-conference awards, or qualifying for nationals, and we're extremely proud of our student-athletes".
