Storm to Compete in Last Chance Meets (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College track and field team will be in action this weekend at numerous meets.  Head Coach Grant Lofdahl said "We have to give our potential national qualifiers the best possible chance to get into the top-20 in their events".

The Storm is coming off a strong performance at the GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.  The Storm women had a pair of GLIAC Champions in Danielle Corbin (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Walnut Grove (Ga.)) and Nadia Lee(Tucker, Ga. / Tucker).  Corbin won the long jump and was the runner-up in the triple jump, while Lee was victorious in the triple jump.  DJ Graham (Gomer, Ohio / Columbus Grove) added a solid performance as he took second place in the steeplechase at the GLIAC meet.

Coach Lofdahl added "We'll be sending Nadia and Danielle to two good meets in Michigan, and if things go well they'll both qualify for nationals. Nadia is currently 13th in triple jump and Danielle is 23rd. They'll be going after big marks in long jump as well -- Danielle is ranked 38th, but she's only about 5-6 inches away from a qualifying jump, and Nadia fouled a huge jump at the GLIAC meet".

"DJ Graham will be going for a qualifying time in the steeplechase at the Allegheny Gator invite on Friday. He is ranked 38th in the steeple and 28th in the 10K, but qualifying in the 10K at these types of meets is incredibly hard. He'll have some good competition in the steeple" added Coach Lofdahl".
