Plante Hits Provo Mark On Day 1 at UIndy

(INDIANAPOLIS) -  It's a busy weekend for the Lake Erie track & field team as it headed to UIndy to participate in the two-day Tom Hathaway Classic. Day One was a great one for the Storm and was highlighted by Madyson Plante's first place performance in the pentathlon.

Plante won the event with 3,376 points, over 100 points better that runner-up Karlie Zumbro from Division I Ball State. Plante's score was high enough to hit the NCAA Division II provisional mark as well.

Plante finished no worse than fourth in the five events and won two of them. Those events were the high jump with a mark of 1.72 meters and the shot put with a throw of 11.49 meters. She also had a 60 meter hurdle time of 9.75 seconds, good for second.

Not to be lost in her teammate's success was Hailey Nielsen. The junior finished fourth in the pentathlon with a total of 2,881.

Johanna Moeller turned in another podium finish with third place in the long jump. Her best mark was 5.45 meters in which she cleared on her second attempt. Syndey Crouch wasn't far behind as placed fifth with a distance of 5.08 meters.

Sydney Crouch placed sixth in the 400 meter finals as the freshman clocked in with a time of 1:01.4. The event was split into sections with Crouch winning her heat by almost a full second.

Lillian Putney also turned in a sixth place finish in the pole vault. She tied UIndy's Izabelle Nelson for the honors as they both cleared 3.21 meters, or 10 feet 6.25 inches.

The event will resume and conclude tomorrow.
