Storm Track & Field Has Excellent Day at Tom Hathaway Classic

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Day Two of the UIndy Tom Hathaway Distance Classic provided many highlights on both teams a day after Madyson Plante made the headlines with a provo mark in the pentathlon. This time it was both men and women placing in various events.

Montrell Devaughn had an excellent day as he won the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.95. Adding to his honors, Devaughn also excelled in the 200 meter dash as he placed seventh with a time of 23.3.

Edging into the middle distance events, Joseph Elson Jr. turned in a third place finish in the 600 meters. He clocked in at 1:23.21, less than a second from winner Mychal Vinson of Marian at 1:22.42.

Both were the top two legs of the men's 4x400 meter relay team that finished second with a time of 3:30.78. Completing the quartet were Joseph Pearce on the third leg and Terrance White as the anchor.

On the women's side, Imane Snyder finished fifth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.56. She was third amongst collegiate competition as two of the top four runners were unattached.

Sydney Crouch placed sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.40.

As was the case with the men, the aforementioned duo were also on the women's 4x400 squad. In that event, the Storm finished third with a time of 4:17.15. Crouch started the race and was followed by Luca Hartman, Johanna Moeller, and anchor Snyder.

Moeller went on the place third again in the long jump. Her best mark came at 5.45 meters and was only bested by a Division I athlete and an unattached participant. Crouch was right behind her in fifth with a jump of 5.08 meters.

The Storm head back on the road next weekend as they head to the National Mid-Major Invitational.
