(INDIANAPOLIS) – After last weekend's impressive performances at the Tom Hathaway Campus Madyson Plante has been named the G-MAC Female Athlete of the Week. In addition to setting a school record as she won the heptathlon, but she hit two NCAA provisional marks as well.
The new school record in the pentathlon was set after she scored 3,376 points to win the event. The provisional qualifying mark also currently ranks No. 15 in the nation.
Within the pentathlon she was able to clear 1.72 in the high jump for another provo mark and is currently tied for eighth in the nation. The result also stands as the second-best height in G-MAC history and was just a centimeter away from tying the record set by Tiffin earlier this year.
"Madyson has worked tremendously hard all fall," said Head Coach Giles Davis. "We talked about and set a goal for 3,500 points. That was our ultimate goal looking at the conference and what it took to get to the NCAA's. Doing her first multi as well as she did, we're a little bit ahead of schedule which is a tribute to how hard she's worked and how she's able to adjust to the competition. We're happy, but we're hoping for bigger and better things."
Coach Davis, Plante, and the rest of the Storm squad will get a chance to do that locally as they head south to participate in the Jim Wuske Invitational at Mount Union.
