STORM TAKES WIN STREAK TO D-I AKRON: The Lake Erie College women's basketball team takes its current four-game winning streak into its first ever regular season meeting against an NCAA Division I opponent on Monday night, Dec. 14, when it visits the University of Akron for a 7 p.m. tip-off at Rhodes Arena.  The Storm (7-4) has posted consecutive weekend sweeps at the Ohio Dominican and Mansfield Classics, respectively.

BEST START IN SCHOOL HISTORY: At 7-4 through the first 11 games, Lake Erie is off to its best start in the program's history.  Prior to this, the earliest a Storm team reached seven wins was 14 games during the 1982-83, 1991-92 and 2007-08 seasons.
30th SEASON OF STORM HOOPS: This is the 30th season in Lake Erie women's basketball history dating back to the 1978-79 season.  To date, the Storm has posted an overall record of 159-494 (.243).  However, 29 percent of the program's all-time wins have come in the last five seasons under head coach Bob Booher.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE STORM: For the second straight weekend Lake Erie swept a pair of games, posting victories over host Mansfield University and Slippery Rock University at the Mansfield Comfort Inn Classic.  On Friday night, 10 different Storm players scored in an 83-38 rout of the Mountaineers.  Renese Ames (Bedford, Ohio/Bedford) led the way with 18 points while Brittany Zele (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) added 14 and Sarah Wojciechwoski (Randolph, Ohio/Waterloo) 10.  Against Slippery Rock on Saturday, Jen Caiola (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) scored a career-high 28 points, Alyssa Wagers (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) had a double-double, Stephanie Rogers (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) scored 17 points and blocked five shots and Ames added 15 off the bench in the Storm's 85-73 win.

MANSFIELD CLASSIC HONORS: Stephanie Rogers was named M.V.P. of the Comfort Inn Classic after totaling 26 points, 14 rebounds and seven blocks in the two games.  Jen Caiola was also named to the all-classic team after leading the team in scoring with 33 points, including a career-high 28 against The Rock.

UP NEXT: The Storm returns home for the first time since Dec. 1 when it hosts Mercyhurst College on Thursday night (Dec. 17) at the Jerome T. Osborne Family Athletic & Wellness Center.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
