Storm Women Fall on Road at Hillsdale

HILLSDALE, MICH. – A 19-6 run at the end of the first half led host Hillsdale College to a 68-52 victory over the Lake Erie College women's basketball team in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action Thursday night (Feb. 14) at Jesse Phillips Arena.

Two free throws by freshman Ali Gagne (Cortland, Ohio/Lakeview) tied the game at 17-17 with 8:17 remaining in the first half, but Brooke Borowski spearheaded a quick 12-2 spurt that put the Chargers up 10 less than four minutes later.  Borowski hit a pair of three-pointers and scored eight points during that stretch. She finished with 11 points off the bench in the first half to lead the Chargers (9-12, 6-12 GLIAC) to a 36-23 halftime advantage.

Sophomore Jackie Murray (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/St. Vincent St. Mary) hit a three-pointer to open the second half scoring, but the Storm (3-18, 1-17 GLIAC) scored just two more points over the next seven minutes as Hillsdale pushed its lead to 20 points.  

Borowski finished with 16 points to lead all scorers. She and Kadie Lowery, who scored nine points, each hit three three-pointers. Megan Fogt added 11 points and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds, leading the Chargers to a 52-30 edge on the boards.

Junior Chrissy Delaney (Delaware, Ohio/Olentangy) led the Storm with 10 points. She was the only player in double figures for Lake Erie. Freshman Sami Narducci (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) scored eight points off the bench.

The Storm is at the University of Findlay Saturday, Feb. 16, for their final road game of the season.
