BAY CITY, Mich. – With the GLIAC Tournament at the final four stage this weekend, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the year-end awards. The GLIAC announced the All-GLIAC Teams and Players/Coaches of the Year on Friday (March 3) night.
Junior Kayla Gabor (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) was named to the All-GLIAC First Team after her performance this season.
Gabor finished the regular season as the Storm and GLIAC's leading scorer with 19.1 points per game in a league-high 35.4 minutes per game. She finished sixth in the conference with a 42.0% three point percentage. She also ranked in the top ten in six other categories. She made the second-most field goals with 191, including 50 three pointers (sixth most). She was slotted tenth with 169 rebounds, a 6.5 rebound per game average. Gabor ranked ninth with 50 steals and seventh with 1.9 steals per contest.
The junior guard from Mentor, Ohio became the ninth Storm player in program history to reach 1,000 career points on December 31st. She was named GLIAC Player of the Week once this season and was named United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) D2 Player of the Week in December.
Gabor set or tied career-highs in five different categories this season, including scoring 33 points against Ferris State.
