PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College women's basketball team will embark on their lone roadtrip for the month of January as they travel to face Great Midwest foes, Malone and Walsh this week. The Storm will face the Malone University Pioneers on Thursday (Jan. 11) at 8:00 PM and the Walsh University Cavaliers on Saturday (Jan. 13) at 3:00 PM.
Storm Report: Lake Erie is 7-6 overall and 4-4 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference after they split the first two games of January at home. The Storm defeated Hillsdale 71-64 but fell to #25 Findlay 83-62. Kayla Gabor (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) leads the Storm and the conference with a scoring average of 21.8 points per game.
Opposition Position: Malone enters the matchup with the Storm with an overall record of 4-8 and 2-6 in the G-MAC. The Pioneers fell to Kentucky Wesleyan 73-67 in their last contest. Baylen Dyrlund leads the Pioneers with 13.5 points per game. Walsh is 8-6 overall and 5-3 in the G-MAC before a game with Ursuline on Thursday. The Cavaliers were defeated by Trevecca Nazarene 60-57 on Saturday. Alex Hochstedler is the leading scorer with 12.4 points per game.
Series History: The Storm and Pioneers have met nine times since the Storm joined Division II. Lake Erie is 3-6 in that span and 7-16 all-time. The Storm defeated the Pioneers 70-63 in the G-MAC/GLIAC Challenge last year, as a member of the GLIAC. Lake Erie is 2-8 against the Cavaliers since the Storm became Division II. The teams split the season series last season, with each team winning on the road once.
