The Lake Erie College Storm women's basketball team opens the 2019-2020 basketball season with a home matchup against the Ferris State University Bulldogs this evening.
The Storm went 11-14 overall with a G-MAC record of 8-14 last season, while the Bulldogs finished with a final record of 14-13 with a conference record of 11-9. The Bulldogs faced Michigan State in an exhibition matchup on Wed. Oct. 30, and lost 45-85. The Storm faced Central State in an exhibition and came out with a win.
The Storm has been slated to finish 11th in the G-MAC this season according to the Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll under the guidance of a new coaching staff. Mackenzie Perttu was named the head of the program in April, and was a part of last year's Storm coaching staff as a full-time assistant coach. Perttu has added a familiar G-MAC face to the Storm coaching staff in Paige Salisbury, an Ursuline College Alum and standout player for the Arrows. The final member of the Storm women's basketball staff is Destiny Washington, who played basketball at Ball State and Florida Gulf Coast.
This evening's matchup against the Bulldogs will tip-off at 5 pm in the Osborne Center, and will be broadcast live on the Great Midwest Digital Network. General admission to all Storm athletic events is $5.00, with an exception for children under the age of 12. Lake Erie College faculty, staff, and students receive free admission with their Storm IDs.
