PAINESVILLE, OHIO – After guiding the program through its inaugural two seasons, Laura Maness resigned her position as head women's lacrosse coach at Lake Erie College Monday, June 20,to accept the same position at the University of Detroit-Mercy.
"I am appreciative of the work Coach Maness did in developing the program and getting us to the point we are today," said Director of Athletics Griz Zimmermann. "I wish her the best of luck as she moves on to the University of Detroit."
Named the Storm's first head coach in 2009, Maness directed Lake Erie to a 10-20 overall record, including a 7-7 mark in the team's debut season of 2010. The Storm went 3-12 in the highly competitive East Coast Conference and had players win multiple conference player of the week awards during her tenure.
"I want to thank the Griz Zimmermann, President Victor and the administration of Lake Erie College for the opportunity to coach here and be part of the building of a program," Maness said. "I enjoyed my time here and wish the Storm program nothing but success in the future."
A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
