PAINESVILLE, OHIO – For the second year in a row, the Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team posted the highest grade point average in NCAA Division II, finishing the year with a combined GPA of 3.358. The Storm was also one of three DII teams to earn Merit Squad recognition from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), earning that recognition for the second straight year as well.
Lake Erie was also among the 16 Division II teams cited as Academic Squads by the IWLCA. All teams that post a combined GPA of 3.0 or better are named Academic Squads. The top three in each division are recognized as Merit Squads.
Division II national runner-up Limestone College was second with a 3.306 GPA, just ahead of West Chester University at 3.303. The top squad in the country academically was Division III Vassar College, at 3.530.
