Storm Opens GLIAC Play at Home (PREVIEW)

STORM OPENS GLIAC PLAY AT HOME: The Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team opens the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) portion of their schedule against conference newcomer Ursuline College.

LAST TIME OUT: The Storm fell to Dowling College 21-5 on the road on Saturday (March 29).  Hana Abu-Kwiek led the Storm with two goals in addition to four draw controls and three groundballs.  Samantha Gryba had a goal and an assist and Mallory Quiggle and Emma Miller netted a goal.  Ashriel West had five draw controls and five groundballs.

OPPOSITION POSITION: Ursuline snapped a three-game losing streak with a win over Trine University last Saturday.  The Arrows are 2-3 in their inaugural season.  Maddie Kipp leads Ursuline with 19 points on 16 goals and three assists.  Lauren Cole has made 44 saves in net. 

SERIES HISTORY: This is the first meeting between the two schools.

GLIAC PRESEASON RANKINGS: In the 2014 GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Storm was selected to finish third- one point behind Tiffin University.  The first year Arrows are projected to finish eighth in the nine team league. 

SCOUTING THE STORM:  Hana Abu-Kwiek leads the Storm with 23 points and 19 goals.  Ashriel West has tallied 13 points on 10 goals and three assists.  Samantha Gryba is third on the team with nine goals.  Mallory Quiggle is tied with Abu-Kwiek with four assists in addition to her four goals.  Emma Miller and Breana Moser have netted six and four goals apiece.   Katie Holden leads the Storm with 23 groundballs while making 73 saves.

FORECAST: The Storm play their final nonconference game of the season Friday (April 4) against West Virginia Wesleyan College.
