Storm Dominates Senators

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College women's lacrosse team was in action today as they defeated Davis and Elkins, 20-2.  With the win the Storm improves to 7-2 overall and 5-0 in Great Midwest action.    

The Storm opened the scoring when Anna Spin (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn) scored off a feed from Taylor Mathis (Corning, N.Y. / Corning).  Less than a minute later, the Storm added a second goal when Cecilia Spin (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn) scored off a free position shot.  10 seconds later the Storm added a third consecutive goal when Anastasia Crawford (Corning, N.Y. / Corning Painted Post East) scored off a feed from Meagan Maxwell (Hamburg, NY / Hamburg).  Lake Erie grabbed a 4-0 lead with just over 27 minutes remaining in the half when Haley Andersen (Henderson, Nev. / Coronado) found the back of the net off a feed from C. Spin.  The Storm added a fifth straight goal when Mathis scored an unassisted goal.  Less than a minute later C. Spin scored off a feed from Andersen and grabbed a 6-0 lead with just over 25 minutes remaining in the half.  Three minutes later Crawford found the back of the net off a feed from A. Spin.  30 seconds later Riley Heffron (Livermore, Ca. / Granada) scored an unassisted goal and gave Lake Erie an 8-0 edge.  The Senators scored a goal, but the Storm responded with eight consecutive goals to end the half.  The goals were scored by Andersen, Brigid Lempko (Buffalo, NY / Mount Mercy Academy), A. Spin, Heffron, C. Spin, Maxwell, and Crawford.  The Storm entered the half with a 16-1 advantage. 

The Senators opened the second half scoring with a goal less than a minute into the half.  Lake Erie responded with a pair of goals by Jacquelynn Ho (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Allegheny), and Mathis, and Michelle Burke (Plymouth, Mich. / Plymouth) added an assist.  The Storm added two goals late in the second half when Lempko and Ho scored.  The Storm won the game, 20-2. 

Lake Erie was led by C. Spin as she had three goals, and an assist in the game.  Crawford added three goals, two groundballs, and a pair of draw controls in the game.  Ho added two goals, and a pair of ground balls in the game for the Storm.    

Lake Erie will return to the field Wednesday (April 11) when they host Ursuline, with the game set to start at 7 p.m.
