  • Title Defense Ends As Upset Bid Of Tiffin Comes Up Short
    May 02, 2019
    Lake Erie’s title defense came to an end as it fell to top-seeded Tiffin 11-8 in the first G-MAC Tournament semifinal on Thursday morning. The fourth-seeded Storm (7-10) had the Dragons (12-6) on the ropes with an upset on their mind, but the Dragons were able to pull away and keep Lake Erie at arm’s length.
  • Ferrandiz To Step Down as Head Coach

    Lake Erie Women’s Lacrosse Head Coach Mallory Ferrandiz has announced that she will step down from her duties for personal reasons. She leaves the program with a 46-36 record over the past five seasons.
  • Spin, Heffron Named To G-MAC All-Conference Team

    On the eve of the semifinals, the G-MAC announced its all-conference teams on Wednesday evening and a pair of Storm student-athletes were named. Anna Spin repeated her spot as a First Team selection while Riley Heffron was named as a Second Team choice.

    The regular season came to a close for Lake Erie with an 18-7 defeat against Tiffin at Frost Kalnow Stadium this afternoon. The result sets up a rematch between the Storm (7-9, 4-3) and Dragons (11-6, 7-0) in next week’s G-MAC Tournament which will be hosted by Tiffin.

    Lake Erie fell in its penultimate game of the regular season with a 17-7 defeat at Findlay on Friday afternoon. The Storm dropped to 7-8 overall on the year and 4-2 in the G-MAC, while the Oilers improved to 7-9 and 5-1.

    A second half comeback attempt came up short for Lake Erie as it fell 14-12 in a remake game against Slippery Rock on Tuesday afternoon. The Storm (7-7) trailed by as many as five goals in the first half while the Rock (6-8) defended its home turf with its sixth win in seven games there.

    Senior Day was a success for Lake Erie as it defeated local rival Ursuline 22-3 on Saturday afternoon. The Storm (7-6, 4-1) never trailed against the Arrows (3-10, 1-4) as they improved to 8-0 all-time against the visitors.

    A second half rally came up short as Lake Erie fell to Edinboro 14-10 at Sox Harrison Stadium Tuesday afternoon. The Storm (6-6) held the Fighting Scots (2-12) outscored the Fighting Scots 4-0 in the final eight minutes of play, but couldn’t get closer.

    It was a big day for the Lake Erie women’s lacrosse team as the Storm bounced back with a big 20-13 victory over Ohio Valley at Jack Britt Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Storm (6-5, 3-1) were quick to start as an early 8-0 helped them take control against the Fighting Scots (5-6, 1-3) and never look back.

    Lake Erie fell to Walsh by a score of 16-11 under the lights at Jack Britt Stadium on Friday evening. It was the first G-MAC defeat for the Storm (5-4, 2-1), while the Cavaliers (9-4, 1-2) found their first conference victory.

    It was almost Heaven in West Virginia for Lake Erie as it defeated Alderson Broaddus 17-4 to go perfect on the opening weekend of conference play. The Storm improved to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in the G-MAC while the Battlers dropped to 1-10 and 0-3.

    A second half barrage helped Lake Erie take down Davis & Elkins by a score of 19-8 in its G-MAC opener on Friday evening. The Storm (4-4, 1-0) were tied with the Senators (7-3, 0-1) 6-6 at halftime before scoring 12 consecutive goals to take control and close the game.

    The No. 6 team in the nation was too much for Lake Erie as it fell 10-2 to Lindenwood in non-conference action at Jack Britt Stadium Tuesday. The Storm dropped to 3-4 on the season while the Lions remained unbeaten at 10-0.

    Lake Erie got back to its winning ways with a 14-8 victory over Gannon on Tuesday evening. The Storm (3-3) blitzed the Golden Knights (2-3) early with an 8-3 lead at halftime and withstood every comeback attempt by the hosts in the second half.

    Close games have been favorable to Lake Erie this season, but it was Wheeling Jesuit that was able the pull out the late-game heroics in an 11-9 decision Sunday afternoon. The Storm (2-3) rallied from a four-goal deficit to tie the game before the Cardinals (3-3) added a pair in the final minute to take the win.

    The Lake Erie women’s lacrosse team ran into a buzzsaw in the high-octane offense of UIndy on Saturday. The result went the way of the Greyhounds as the Storm fell 26-2. Lake Erie fell to 2-2 on the season while UIndy improved to 4-1.
  • Spin's Record Game Helps Storm Stake Win In OT

    Anna Spin broke her own G-MAC record for points in a game and tied the conference mark for goals in a game in Lake Erie’s 18-17 overtime victory over Northern Michigan. The senior lit up the Wildcats (1-3) for nine goals and four points, and all were needed to help give the Storm (2-1) their second-straight one-goal win.

    Riley Heffron has been named this week’s Great Midwest Athletic Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week after an incredible game against the University of Charleston on Saturday afternoon. Thanks to her efforts, the Storm were able to rage back from a four-goal deficit and win 12-11.

    A buzzer-beater goal in lacrosse is a bit of a rarity. Scoring two of them would be like hitting the lottery. But Saturday was Lake Erie’s lucky day as it overcame the odds to defeat Charleston in a nail-biter 12-11.

    In a battle between two nationally ranked teams, No. 19 Lake Erie was upended by No. 16 Grand Valley by a score of 14-4 at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium. The Friday evening showdown served as the season opener for both teams.

    Defending champion Lake Erie has been selected third in the 2019 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll presented by Under Armour that was released this morning. The Storm, who are coming off of the best season in program history, received 40 points and one of the eight first place votes.
  • Lake Erie Recognized In Major National Polls
    January 28, 2019
    After last year’s banner season that resulted in an undefeated G-MAC season and championship, Lake Erie is ranked in the preseason national polls by both Nike/US Lacrosse Magazine and IWLCA. The Storm will enter the season at No. 19 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Magazine Poll. The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association has Lake Erie slated at No. 24.
