Hoogenboom Selected to Attend NWCA Coaching Leadership Academy

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Lake Erie College head wrestling coach Kevin Hoogenboom has been selected to attend the 2011 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Leadership Academy Workshop Aug. 3-4 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.  Hoogenboom is one of only 45 coaches nationwide accepted to the program.

"I am very excited for this opportunity and really looking forward to learning more about the vital needs of wrestling programs and how we can continue to develop our program here at Lake Erie into one of the best in the country," Hoogenboom said.

The Academy was started in 2009 with the goals of helping coaches strengthen their CEO skills in an effort to better their programs and to promote best practices for improving retention and graduation rates.

In advance of the workshop, Hoogenboom will complete a number of assessment and evaluation programs and online modules. At the workshop, he will be involved in a number of small group discussions customizing the general concepts learned in the modules to meet the needs of each coach on their respective campus.

The 45 scholarship recipients will receive airfare, lodging and convention fees and course materials for the workshop.  A record number of over 300 applicants were received by the NWCA for the program.
