Storm Wrestlers Bounce Back with 44-5 Win Over Baldwin-Wallace (W/Video)

PAINESVILLE, OHIO –  The Lake Erie College wrestling team bounced back from a road loss at the nation's eighth-ranked team with a 44-5 nonconference home win over Baldwin-Wallace College on Saturday night (Jan. 14) at the Jerome T. Osborne Family Athletic and Wellness Center.

Sophomore Justin Toth (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside/Mt. Union) started the night with a 7-1 decision over Jeremy Dombrady at 125 pounds and then freshman Ian Ross (Newark, N.Y./Newark) followed with a 10-8 overtime win over Andrew Taylor in a spirited bout at 133 pounds.

Nick Ramsey pick up Baldwin-Wallace's (1-2) only win with a technical fall at 141 pounds before the Storm (6-5) responded with major decision wins at 149 and 157 pounds, respectively.  Freshman Mitchel Porter (Mantua, Ohio/Crestwood) picked up an 11-2 victory over Sam McIntosh and classmate Nate Ball (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) won 12-4 against Alex Cahill.

The next four matches went to Lake Erie via forfeit. Freshman heavyweight Bobby Zappitelli (Painesville Twp., Ohio/Lake Catholic) closed the night with pin ofAddison Carbone 55 seconds into the third period. 

The Storm continues its homestand on Friday night, Jan. 20, against Northeast Ohio rival Notre Dame College at 7 p.m.
