Wrestlers Host Lake Erie Quad II For Final Home Matches of Season Saturday

PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- The Lake Erie College wrestling team will make its final appearance in front of the home faithful Saturday (Feb. 9) when they host nationally-ranked foes in the University of Findlay, Mercyhurst University and King College for the Lake Erie Quad II at the Jerome T. Osborne Family Athletic and Wellness Center. 

The Storm (10-4, 1-2 GLIAC) have been listed in the top two of "others receiving votes" in each of the last three NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association Top 20 national poll.  Lake Erie is ranked sixth in Region 2 and has seven individuals ranked in the top six in their respective weight classes.  Leading the way is sophomore All-American Matt Vandermeer who is ranked second at 165 pounds in both the regional and national polls.

LIGHTNING QUICK REVIEW: The Storm sent a partial lineup to the 27th annual John Summa Memorial Tournament at Baldwin Wallace University last weekend, placing fifth as a team.  Freshman Cobey Fehr (141 pounds) and sophomore Dylan Zivcic (174) were individual champions.  Prior to that, the Storm convincingly topped West Liberty University in dual action, 39-6, Jan. 31.  Lake Erie has won four of its last five dual matches overall.

OPPOSITION POSITION: Findlay is currently ranked seventh in the coaches' poll while Mercyhurst is 13th and King is also listed among others receiving votes.

FORECAST: The Storm close out the regular season with a nonconference dual at Ohio Valley University Tuesday Feb. 12.
