GENEVA, Ohio—The Lake Erie College wrestling team finished second at the Ohio Duals hosted by Cleveland State University at SPIRE Institute Saturday (Nov. 14).

The Storm started the day with a 46-0 sweep of Mercyhurst Northeast before defeating Division-I Cleveland State 18-17 in the semifinals.  The Storm's run ended in the finals when they fell 36-9 to Kent State University, who is ranked 20th in Division-I.

The Storm won all ten matches against Mercyhurst Northeast to open the duals. 157-pounder Christian Baughman (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth), 184-pounder Tyler Hughes (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) and 197-pounder Evan Rosborough (Concord Twp., Ohio/Riverside) won by pinfall.  133-pounder Austin Gillihan (Corry, Pa./Corry Area), 165-pounder Matt Vandermeer (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) and heavyweight Evan Loughman (Thornville, Ohio/Sheridan) won by tech fall.  174-pounder Nicholas Vandermeer (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) won by major decision while 125-pounder Forrest Glogouski (New Paris, Ind./Fairfield), 141-pounder Ian Ross (Newark, N.Y./Newark) and 149-pounder Nick Boggs (Concord, Ohio/Riverside) won by decision.

The shutout marked the first in program history.

In their second dual, the Storm faced Division-I Cleveland State.  Glogouski opened the dual up with a 4-2 decision.  After a loss at 133-pounds, Ross won 9-6 to give the Storm the lead once again.  The Vikings moved back ahead with a pinfall at 149-pounds, but Baughman, the Vandermeers and Hughes rattled off four straight wins, including a major decision by Hughes, to put the match away.

In the finals, the Storm faced Kent State.  Glogouski picked up his third win of the day with a 7-5 decision.  However, the Golden Flashes won the next eight bouts.  In the heavyweight match, Loughman finished the day with a pin.

The Storm is back in action next weekend at the Findlay Open.
