PAINESVILLE, Ohio—The Lake Erie College wrestling team moved into the top spot of Super Region-II in the latest Division-II Wrestling Coaches' Poll released Wednesday (Dec. 2).
In the initial rankings this season, the Storm sat in second.
The Storm is off to a hot start this season, having several wrestlers place at tournaments early on. The biggest win of the season came at the Northeast Ohio Duals, where the Storm upset Division-I Cleveland State University in the semifinals.
In addition to the team rankings, nine Storm wrestlers are ranked in their weight classes. 157-pounder Christian Baughman (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadworth), two-time All-American 165-pounder Matt Vandermeer (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston), 174-pounder Nicholas Vandermeer (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) and All-American 197-pounder Evan Rosborough (Concord Twp., Ohio/Riverside) are ranked third in their respective classes. 133-pounder Austin Gillihan (Corry,Pa./Corry Area), 141-pounder Ian Ross (Newark, N.Y./Newark) and 184-pounder Tyler Hughes (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) sit in fifth in their classes. 125-pounder Forrest Glogouski (New Paris, Ind./Fairfield) and 149-pounder Nick Boggs (Concord, Ohio/Riverside) are ranked sixth.
The Storm is back in action Dec. 19-20 at the Midwest Classic held in Indianapolis.
