Storm Ready for Mount Union Invite (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College wrestling team will return to the mat this weekend as they will travel to Alliance, Ohio for the 2017 Mount Union Invitational on Saturday (Nov. 11). The action will begin at 10:00 AM at the Peterson Fieldhouse.

Results can be found here throughout the day on Saturday.

The Storm will be going up against eight other teams in the invitational. The other teams being represented are Mount Union, Bellarmine, Campbellsville, Gannon, Ohio Northern, Ohio Valley, Seton Hill and SUNY Brockport.

"We expect to win," said Storm head coach Kevin Hoogenboom. "The team put in 3 hard days of practice and the results should follow. We are focused on being aggressive and wrestling hard for seven minutes. If we do that, success will follow. This will be a good test for us as the field boasts several nationally ranked wrestlers and team."

Storm Report: Lake Erie opened the season last weekend with three duals and the Michigan State Open. The Storm defeated Kent State Tuscarawas and Mercyhurst North East but fell to Kent State on Friday. Lake Erie took eighteen of twenty matches in the Storm's two dual wins. On Sunday, the Storm traveled to East Lansing, Michigan for the MSU Open. Four different wrestlers won two matches in the Open. Tyler Hughes (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) leads the team with five wins this season, with two pinfall victories.

Storm Forecast: Lake Erie will compete at the University of Findlay next Saturday (Nov. 18) for the Findlay Open.
