PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The #23 Lake Erie College wrestling team will conclude the dual portion of the schedule with a road matchup with the #19 Wheeling Jesuit University Cardinals on Tuesday (Feb. 13) night at 7:00 PM.
"It's the last dual of the season so we are still resting some guys and getting others a final tune up before the super regional," said Storm head coach Kevin Hoogenboom. "It should be a great place to compete and we expect them to have a good crowd."
Storm Report: Lake Erie is 7-9 in duals this season following a loss at Gannon on Saturday (Feb. 9) night. Isaiah Wheeler (Copley, Ohio / Copley / Stark State) won his 197-pound match with an 8-7 decision.
Technical Falls Leader: Nick Vandermeer (Clarkston, Mich. / Clarkston) is the Division II leader in technical falls with eight. Vandermeer holds the lead with eight tech falls spanning a time of 34:39. He has picked up tech fall victories in duals against Kutztown, Upper Iowa, King and Belmont Abbey at 165 pounds. He also picked up tech fall victories at the Mount Union Invite, Findlay Open and Midwest Classic. He currently has an overall record of 18-9 this season.
G-MAC Athlete of the Week: Blake Glogouski (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) was named Great Midwest Athlete of the Week on Tuesday (Feb. 6) after he won his match on Saturday with a pin in 2:47 over Zachary Collins of Findlay. His pin gave the Storm six points towards its win over #18 Findlay. Blake is the third different Storm wrestler to earn Athlete of the Week honors this season.
Opposition Position: Wheeling Jesuit is 5-6 in duals this season as the 19th-ranked team in the country. The Cardinals fell 24-18 to Seton Hill in their last dual.
Forecast: The Storm will compete at the Super Region 2 Championships next weekend.
