(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – A busy week for Lake Erie wrestling will continue tomorrow as it hosts nationally ranked No. 3 Notre Dame College in the Osborne Center. The Storm (4-2) are coming off of a narrow 26-24 defeat to No. 4 Wheeling Jesuit on Monday and are looking to rebound against the Falcons (2-0).
The Storm are looking for their first dual win over the rival Falcons since the 2014-15 season. That year Lake Erie, then ranked No. 15 in the nation, narrowly edged the No. 2 Falcons 18-16.
One of the marquee matchups will take place at the end in the heavyweight bout. Both teams feature talented grapplers that are nationally recognized. For the Storm, Evan Loughman has been mentioned weekly for his ability to pin his opponent. He leads all of NCAA Division II with nine falls that totals just 17:55.
By comparison, Mercyhurst's Jacob Robb is second on the list with eight falls in a combined total time of 21:23. However the Falcons' heavyweight is no slouch as Kameron Teacher is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation.
Another intriguing bout could come at the 157 lbs. weight class. Lake Erie's Nick Boggs is currently ranked No. 11 in the nation, but just ahead of him is Notre Dame's Zach Kelly at No. 9.
The opening bout is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
